If you don't have Winamp installed, the program complains about it, but a quick reconfigure pointing to where your favorite media player is installed will fix that. There's also a quick tag editor and you can play duplicate files to check them before deletion. For example, it can rename badly formatted music files automatically by looking at the song's metadata and renaming the file accordingly. The settings is where you decide which music files the program should scan for and if it should look through subfolders.Įven though the program interface as a whole isn't super up-to-date, the results are displayed side by side so that you can compare the size and name of the duplicate files, and select which ones should stay or go.ĭuplicate Music Files Finder also comes with a built-in set of tools for managing your files. This duplicate file finder compares music files by searching for matching filenames, MP3 tags, CRC checksums, and file sizes. Some of those options include keeping the file that's the longest, smallest, has the shortest name, or even deleting every duplicate but one. For example, in this worksheet, the January column has. Click Data > Remove Duplicates, and then Under Columns, check or uncheck the columns where you want to remove the duplicates. Tip: Remove any outlines or subtotals from your data before trying to remove duplicates. Once Duplicate Cleaner gives a list of results, use the selection assistant to mark what you want to be deleted. Select the range of cells that has duplicate values you want to remove. You can also use search filters that take into account the file's creation and modified date, size, and file extension, plus search through Zipping archives. Otherwise, you can have the search only look for duplicate audio data and ignore any tags. The selection assistant is particularly useful for quickly marking files for deletion based on your criteria.Ĭriteria can include matching audio tags like the artist, title, and album, as well as the genre, length, year, any comments, and others. Its interface is easy to use and has an impressive range of options to fine-tune your search. I think it's possible to create very complicated script to check, if values are different and save them if they are, but maybe this simple action will be sufficient for You.This free duplicate file scanner for Windows has the facility to deep scan various music formats such as MP3, M4A, M4P, WMA, FLAC, OGG, APE, and others. Maybe You already using multiple values (for example to have genres 'Classic' 'Opera' 'XX Century' in some albums, or artists 'Lady Gaga' 'Beyonce' in one hit, or something like that), and this action will preserve only the first field. But this action will delete all duplicate fields in track (all GENRE tags, all ARTIST tags.), saving only first, no matter if content is different. To help You I could recommend mp3tag, which have action 'Remove duplicate fields'. VLC don't support (again not sure), so You see only one value. They are visible in Foobar because Foobar supports multiple values in tags. Thevan, I think Piccard multiplied Your tags (of course I'm not sure). We could write ' ' between words in field and still have one field - we need to use option 'Split values' in Properties. For example in mp3tag '\\', in others '/'. In other programs there are other separators. f2k doesn't separate according to commas but according to semicolons.(.)Ī separator for multiple values is the 'null' character (or other, depends on format), we see semicolon or ',' in Foobar because the author choosed those signs. Quote from: White_Shadow on 08:33:01 (.)If there are values separated with a comma (not a semicolon) then replace this comma with a semicolon. If you're using something like "artist|album|.", it would split albums with mulitple track artists. I'm sorting by "album artist|album|discnumber|tracknumber|title", which will leave also multi-artist-albums together. etc., you'll have to mind, that the field "artist" is something else than "album artist". If you intended that you want to sort our items in your library or your playlist according to artist/album/. What did you intend with "that some of the same artists and albums are not being grouped together"? How do you group items? In which context want you to group items? Media library, playlist, etc.? Which Library Viewer, which Playlist Viewer do you use? If you used another software, maybe some of your tags are kind of buggy. (Same by me) I had to remove it and after that, everything worked perfect. If you assigned your metadata with another software and with foobar2000 this produced some duplicates in the Artist/Album artist fields. First question is: Have you edited your metadata tags with another software than foobar2000? I think, from version 1.1.5 to 1.1.7, there was a change in mapping some tag fields.
